the Very Small

Blog of 'the Very Small', a DC based rock trio.

Wow, our last post was in August…SLACKERS! Well anyway, I (Robin) moved into a new house, so we needed to get our new band room in order. Conveniently, Home Depot is right across the street and my brother has a pick up truck. So what do you do when you need a wall in a rental home? Build one. That was in the lease I signed … right?

My friends Deleted Scenes ran into some trouble yesterday. Yesterday, Canadian border officials seized 47 records, 88 CDs, and about 50 shirts. This is devastating, amounting to about $1800 lost. Help them get back to zero. Buy their stuff:

Jee Willikers I am excited! Aaron and I had our first “audition” a couple nights ago and it went really well. It shouldn’t be long now before we find out who the new TVS bassist will be.
Stay tuned!

Music and Science have been observed once more! I bring you:

SPACE MUSIC!!

“The volume of the note is determined by the distance to the supernova, with more distant supernova being quieter and fainter.

“The pitch of the note was determined by the supernova’s ‘stretch,’ a property of how the supernova brightens and fades. Higher stretch values played higher notes. The pitches were drawn from a Phrygian dominant scale.

“The instrument the note was played on was determined by the properties of the galaxy which hosted each supernova. Supernovae hosted by massive galaxies are played with a stand-up bass, while supernovae hosted by less massive galaxies are played with a grand piano.”

So this past Thursday, I went to get motoroil for my lawnmower and the owner of the shop had just rescued this guy from walking into the road. It turns out the next customer to walk in was me (and I live right by a park - how convenient!)
